Winter is coming and it’s time to learn to make a hat. Joanna will help you with circular needles then decreasing to double points.

Skill: Knit and purl
Materials: Worsted weight yarn with size 8 16” circular needle and size 8 double point needles.
Homework: knit a 4” x 4” gauge swatch

Adult Beginning Knitting
Saturday, September 8, 22, & 29 1:00 to 3:00 or
October 27, Nov. 3 & 10 1:00 to 3:00

Learn how to cast on, knit, purl, yarn-over and bind off while creating a washcloth in this three session class. The class will also cover the importance of gauge, needle size, reading a label and the difference in weights of yarn.

Skill Level: Excited and eager to learn
Materials: Size 8 needles and one skein Nashua worsted weight yarn.

Intermediate / Advanced Sweater
Tuesdays, September 18, October 2 and 16 5:30-7:30
Chauntel will be using the “Sahara” pattern from Stitch Diva to make this “ Pinpoint fit” “Arabesque detail” and “Elegant” top down sweater that has three different sleeve options. Pattern is included.

Skill: Inter./Adv. Must understand basic construction of making sweaters and be comfortable with pattern reading.
Materials: Worsted weight yarn, size 6 in dpns and circular needles in 24 & 16 inch, size 4 in dpns and circular needles in 24 & 16 inch, size G (6mm) crochet hook for provisional cast on. Stitch holders and six (6) stitch makers in at least three colors.

First Sweater

Join Joanna as she walks you through the steps of making your first sweater “Tithe” from the Noro Unlimited book. This cardigan will be great for the up coming cool nights.

Skill: Intermediate Beginner
Materials: Noro Unlimited Book, worsted weight yarn and needles.
Homework: Make gauge swatch. Cast on for back and work for 12 inches.

Learn what all the excitement is about knitting your own socks! Using double point needles Joanna will teach you the basic sock. Pattern is included.

Skill: Know the long tail cast on, knit and purl.
Materials: Nashua Superwash worsted weight yarn and size 6 double point needles.
Homework: Follow the pattern for making the leg of the sock

Beginning Crochet
Sunday, September 23rd and 30th 2:00 to 4:00
Treat yourself to a spa accessory you won’t want to live without! A soft, squishy washcloth using Rowan’s All Season Cotton. Stitches learned: chain stitch, slip stitch, single crochet, half double crochet, double crochet, triple crochet, increasing and decreasing. Run a bath, light some yummy candles and enjoy!!

Materials: Size F crochet hook (metal or bamboo), One skein of Rowan All Seasons Cotton, or any worsted weight cotton of your choice.

Crochet Hat

Yes!! Fall is on its way and what a great way to keep your head warm from the cool evening breeze without overheating. You will learn how to make a hat that all of your friends will beg you to make them. We will be building on the beginner crochet class, using the basic stitches and more, and learning how to crochet in the round. It just may be the Christmas of beanies………..

Skill: Basic crochet stitches (single, double etc.)
Materials: Size F crochet hook, One skein of Tahki Yarns Savoy, and One skein of Louisa Harding Cinnabar, or two skeins of any worsted weight wool.

One Year Anniversary Coming Soon!

Our one year anniversary is approaching soon, September 12th to be exact!

So on Saturday September 15th we will be celebrating with a party from 11am to 5pm.

We will be having a hourly drawing between 12:00pm to 3:00pm (you must be present to win)
and winners of our first annual "Stitches" contest announced at 4:00pm.

What is "Stitches"?
I would like to invite everyone that has made something from yarn purchased at Knit & Pearl to bring one item in for our first annual "Stitches" contest. We would like to show off your "Stitches" in the store and have everyone vote on their favorite. There will be prizes for first, second and third place. You can drop your item off anytime starting August 21st, with voting beginning on August 28th..
Everyone can vote as often as they like, but only once a day until September 14th.

Thank you all for making Knit & Pearl's first year so much fun!
