Hi Everyone,

We are heading into our final week!  As the yarns are disappearing off the shelves, the displays and the mannequins (children's) are being tagged for sale.  If you had your eye on something or thought something was cute, come by and see if it's been tagged.

I will be keeping the store's Blog and the Face Book page, so if you haven't Liked us yet, please do so.  I will be posting and am hoping to arrange a KAL and a group knitting from time to time.

Summer Solstice Parade

The Summer Solstice parade is this Saturday, June 23rd, up State Street, with all the street closures & traffic we will be closed too. I hope everyone enjoys the celebration and we'll see you on Monday when we reopen at 11:00

Shibui Gradient

Shibui has a new free infinity scarf pattern, Gradient, featuring Silk Cloud.  It is a quiet blend of three strands held together alternating in a simple seed-stitch cowl with one strand periodically changing to a new color to create a soft transition from one color to the next, and back again.  We have eight colors available in the store; so what color will yours be?

Shibui Trunk Show

We  have the Shibui trunk show in the store starting today February 28th through March 14th featuring Heichi and Silk Cloud.  There are seven garments; Dusk, Echo, Element, Reflection,Ripple, Shadow and Trace for you to see and try on, a long with the small bag Umbra.

Misti Alpaca

Misti Alpaca has sent us some display samples for everyone to try on and pick out colors for.  We will have them until February 20th, then they will be sent on there way to the next store.

Coastal Knits Trunk Show

 Coastal Knits trunk show is on display with the books on their way!!  Alana & Hannah have done a wonderful job and we are very honored to be hosting their efforts!  Be sure to stop by today until the 22nd to be inspired.

Blocking

Are you ready to put the final touches on your summer project?

Blocking.  It’s key to opening up stitch patterns, straitening edges and giving your project a crisp professional look.
We have Knitters Blocks and blocking wires from Fiber Dreams in lace and worsted weight size.  The wires come in a baker’s dozen (13) light-weight, stainless steel wires each are 3 feet long in a slim plastic storage tube.   

The Knitter’s Block kits are a set of 12” square blocking tiles that snap together like pieces of a puzzle so variety of shapes and sizes can be made; a square for sweaters, a long rectangle for scarves or a triangle for shawls.  It has a very low, lightly barbed pile fabric covering that gently grips your knitting without pilling or leaving fibers.

The kits include an instruction pamphlet, nine (9) blocking squares, T-pins and a 32" × 36" lint-free pressing cloth made of 100% Egyptian cotton for steam blocking. 

Fiesta Celebration

Santa Barbara is busy getting ready for Old Spanish Days and we wanted to let you know about some changes in our hours so we don't miss you!  On Friday August 5th we will  be closed do to the Historical Parade and Saturday August 6th we will have shorten hours, 12:00 to 4:00 do to the Childrens Parade.

"Little red in the city" by Ysolda Teague

Ysolda's book "Little red in the city" just arrived!  The book is filled with swatching idea's (yes you need to swatch) techniques for shaping and blocking for the perfect fit sweater!  There are seven patterns to chose from with alternation ideas.

First Sweater

Thursday 4-28th, 5-5th & 19th                                    5:30 to 7:30

 The Split Neck T Shirt Sweater is a very versatile and great first time sweater to make!  The simple raglan sleeve top down design looks great with jeans. It is knitted in worsted weight yarn and is a must for a summer evening walk on the beach or the Douglas Preserve (aka Wilcox property), or dress it up by using a more luxurious yarn and head off to a nice dinner.

Reversible Lace Shrug

Saturday May 7^th & 14^th                                       2:00 to 4:00

This flattering lace shrug starts with a simple rectangle then joined together so that the remainder of the shrug is knit in the round.  The rolled shawl collar and flared bottom are created by increases which widen the shrug so it can be worn with the sides falling gentle open or closed with a shawl pin.  We are using Noro Retro, a beautiful yarn with wool, angora and silk.

Welted Fingerless gloves

Learning how to use double point needles (DPN’s) can be frustrating so we want to teach you how by making these simple and adorable fingerless gloves.  They are fun to personalize with some color work or a little bling.
